You can be active at any size. Being active can be fun, improve your mood, and your overall sense of wellbeing. Research strongly shows that physical activity is safe for almost everyone. The health benefits of physical activity far outweigh the risks. However, if you have not been physically active in a while, check with your health care provider to get appropriate guidance.
Tips to help you move more:
Start small. Look for opportunities to reduce the amount of time you sit each day. Taking a five-minute walk several times a week is a great place to start. Gradually work up to 10 minutes walks 3 times a day. If you do even more activity, you may gain even more health benefits.
Make it routine. Set aside specific times to make physical activity part of your daily or weekly routine.
Find a buddy. Activities with friends or family are more enjoyable than doing them alone. Plus, you can provide mutual motivation and encouragement.
Make it fun. You’ll get the most out of activities that you enjoy, and you’ll keep coming back for more. Start with activities, locations, and times you enjoy.
Add in strength training. Strength training improves your balance, prevents falls, keeps s bones strong, and helps you perform daily living activities.
